The Costa Tropical |
|
| The Costa Tropical is on the southern coast of Spain, between the eastern end of the better-known Costa del Sol and the Costa Almeria. This stretch of coastline takes its name from the sub-tropical climate which allows the cultivation of fruits and crops such as avocadoes mangoes and bananas to name but a few. Motril is also home to the last commercial sugar cane plantation in Europe. The area remains relatively undiscovered by tourism and is scattered with uncrowded beaches yet still offers a variety of activities. If you want to experience the genuine Spanish lifestyle with an Andalucian feel this sixty mile stretch of coastline may be just the place for you. | |

| The Costa Tropical has a rugged coastline with numerous secluded beaches and rocky coves. Going inland, the fifty odd villages known as the Alpujarras offer ideal hiking terrain, and the ski resort Sol y Nieve in the Sierra Nevadas can be reached in approximately two hours. Granada with it's magnificent Alhambra palace is only an approximate 90 minute drive and in neighbouring Almeria province you can visit Mini Hollywood where Clint Eastwoods 'spaghetti westerns' were filmed. The Costa tropical is serviced by Malaga airport, an approximate two hour drive to the west and Almeria an hours drive to the east. | |

The three main resort towns are Almunecar, Salobrena and Motril, Almunecar being the tourist capital of the costa. It's a favourite holiday haunt of the Spanish from Granada as it provides excellent leisure facilities and has not been tainted by the trappings of mass tourism. If you're in search of a more tranquil setting the welcoming villages of La Rabita, La Mamola Calahonda and Castel de Ferro to mention a few are well worth a visit. Just a few minutes drive inland from La Rabita is the larger town of Albunol where our associates Sabino Inmobiliaria are located. |
